The Vice President of India, Shri M, Venkaiah Naiud has said that language is a living tool - you must use it or you lose it. If we lose a language we lose an important part of cultural identity, he added. He was addressing the 9th Convocation of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, in Pune, Maharshtra on March 29, 2018. The Guardian Minister for Pune, Maharashtra, Shri Girish Bapat and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

India is moving ahead with formula of Reform, Perform and Transform: Vice President

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that India, which is a largest democracy in the world, is moving ahead with the formula of Reform, Perform and Transform with an able and stable government. Defence Budget 2018-19

Union Budget for the financial year 2018-19, presented by the Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley in the Parliament today, envisaged a total outlay of Rs. 24,42,213 crore. Out of this, Rs 2,95,511.41 crore has been earmarked for Defence. This accounts for 12.10 percent of the total Central Government expenditure for the year 2018-19.

The allocation of Rs. 2,95,511.41 crore represents a growth of 7.81 percent over Budget Estimates (Rs. 2,74,114.12 crore) and 5.91 percent over Revised Estimates (Rs. 2,79,003.85 crore), respectively for the financial year 2017-18.

The budget of 2018 clearly reflects the commitment of the government towards agriculture and farmers welfare as well as Prime Minister’s pledge to double farmers income by 2022. The budgetary allocation of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ministry was Rs. 51,576 crore for the year 2017-18 which has been increased to Rs. 58,080 crore for this year. It is worth noting that if we compare budgetary allocation during Congress regime from the year 2009 to 2014 which was Rs. 1,21,082 crore has been increased to Rs. 2,11,694 crore for the 5 years of the Modi Government that is 2014-19.

“I congratulate the Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley for this budget which strengthens the foundation of New India. The focus of the budget is on issues ranging from agriculture to Infrastructure. On the one hand, the budget covers aspects such as health plans to address the concerns of the poor and middle class, while on the other hand it has plans to increase the wealth of small entrepreneurs in the country.

Foreign delegates visit IIIDEM Campus

The India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) organized a special visit for foreign delegates from Election Management Bodies and International Organizations at its upcoming state-of-the-art campus in Dwarka, Delhi. Participating Dignitaries from Australia, Bhutan, Guinea, Moldova, Zambia and representatives from International IDEA and IFES visited the campus and learnt about the various facilities provided by IIIDEM.
